This website through the photographs posted aims to let visitors to the site be aware of the changes that have been made and are being made in the town and immediate area.
There are many photographs of Barrhead that can be found with a search of the internet and those posted here are a 2011/2012 view of the town.
Across the world there are "Barrheadians" that are unable to return to their place of birth that may like to know of the changes that have occured to the place that they knew so well.

The following is copied for the 18th century.
1769 The historic Weavers Cottage at 84 Main Street was built. 1780 Arthurlee House (now used by the local council) was built by Gavin Ralston, owner of the Arthurly estate. 1780 The Dovecothall spinning mill, the earliest cotton mill on the River Levern and the second oldest in Scotland, was built. The building was finally demolished in 1970.<
